Alan Pardew considers Newcastle United's expected acquisition of Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow to be 'good business'.

The general consensus is that Pardew has pulled off quite a coup in agreeing a deal for two up-and-coming talents for a combined fee of around £7million.

Lascelles and Darlow are due to arrive from Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest, with both having come through the academy system at the City Ground to make an impact on the senior stage.

Forest boss Stuart Pearce has expressed his disappointment at seeing the sales sanctioned, with it his opinion that the pair will be worth considerably more in the future.

Taking that into account, Pardew is delighted to have lined up a deal that will serve Newcastle well in the future.

He told Sky Sports of promising defender Lascelles and highly-rated goalkeeper Darlow: “Every time we sign a player, we think it’s good business. We think it’s part of what we do.

Lascelles and Darlow are to be loaned back to Forest as part of the agreement to take them to St James’ Park, and another of those who could be heading out on a short-term deal is Rolando Aarons.

The teenage midfielder is yet to make the breakthrough into Pardew’s first-team plans, but he hopes to be given the opportunity to impress in 2014/15.

Regarding his hopes for the season and talk of a possible loan switch, Aarons told the Chronicle: “It is up to the manager, but I’m going to try and make his decision as difficult as possible, it’s my job really.

“I’m no-one yet. It is just pre-season and I haven’t done anything in big games, so I’m just going to keep my head down and work hard.

“I’m hoping to get involved in a first-team game this season and make an impact.”
