Blackburn midfielder Jason Lowe believes the current squad at Ewood Park is the strongest he's ever been a part of.

The 22-year-old, who has been with Rovers since he was 12, believes the club's unbeaten run of 12 games at the end of last season has given them confidence going into the new campaign.

Lowe told the club's website: "We've got a young squad, very enthusiastic, but one that is very confident off the back of what we achieved towards the end of last year.

"I think we've got to take that momentum into the start of the season.

"It is a very tough league, one of the toughest to get out of because of the number of games and the physicality of it. So we'll take each game one at a time, but we are confident going into it so hopefully it put us in good stead.

"Collectively I think the squad is the best that I've been involved in. Atmosphere-wise, spirit-wise, preparation-wise, everything seems to be clicking so hopefully we can do it when it matters."

Lowe made 42 appearances in all competitions for Gary Bowyer's side last season, as the Ewood Park outfit finished eighth, two points outside the play-offs.

He added: "We know what we need to do to get there. It is very very tough, but do-able. We've just got to give everything that we've got and hopefully it will be enough."
