Welsh hails Preston quartet

John Welsh hailed the performances of Preston's summer signings as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool at Deepdale.

Josh Brownhill was on the scoresheet for the home side, but it was goalkeeper Jamie Jones, defender Calum Woods and strikers Jordan Hugill and Andy Little who earned the praise of Welsh. He told Preston's official website: "I thought they were brilliant. Calum was great and Jamie kept a clean sheet so I'm sure the lads will be pleased. "Andy is up and down, he gets at people, Jordan has come on, he's done well up there, he gets hold of the ball for you. "They will be pleased to get in front of the home fans with a Preston shirt on and I'm sure they will be proud."
