Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has revealed striker Alberto Gilardino is considering an offer from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande.

The 31-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Genoa this summer with Guangzhou and Major League Soccer side Toronto FC keen to acquire his services.

Gilardino, who is under contract with Genoa until June 2016, scored 15 goals for the Grifoni in Serie A last season.

When asked about Guangzhou's offer to acquire Gilardino, Preziosi said to Italian TV station Telenord: "We don't know whether Gilardino will accept or not.

"If he does, then we already have some alternatives and we will certainly give coach (Gian Piero) Gasperini a worthy replacement.

"If he doesn't then we will keep him."

Gilardino would play again under coach Marcello Lippi should the experienced striker decide to join Guangzhou.

Lippi, who guided Gilardino and Italy to win the 2006 World Cup in Germany, has been in charge of Chinese side since 2012.
