Cheltenham Town have announced the signing of goalkeeper Trevor Carson on a two-year deal.

The 26-year-old left Bury at the end of last season, having been on loan at Portsmouth, and replaces Scott Brown who left to Aberdeen after 10 years with the Robins. "I'm delighted obviously," he told the club's official website. "It's not nice being on the scrapheap and basically out of a job. "It's the first time I have experienced it in 10 years and it is a worry especially when you have a young family. Mark (Yates) was the first manager I spoke to him and he rang whilst I was on my honeymoon. "People were telling me to perhaps wait but I felt good straight away because he was honest and up front with me. "Straight away it felt right so I decided to go for it."
