Scunthorpe have signed striker Lyle Taylor from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old has signed a two-year deal at Glanford Park and becomes Scunthorpe's third summer signing. Taylor made 25 appearances for the Blades and scored two goals after arriving at the club from Falkirk last summer. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Partick. He told Scunthorpe's official website: "It's a fresh start for me and I'm looking forward to starting training with everyone. "It didn't quite happen for me at Sheffield United but that's football, unfortunately. "Now, all my efforts will be here. "It has been explained to me how the team wants to play and what the club is about, so I have every hope and optimism that I can do well here." Taylor, who appeared set for a permanent move north of the border, added: "I got a call, and there were other clubs interested, but within two days I'd signed here. "It's been done quickly, it's all sorted and I'm looking forward to getting going here now." Blades manager Nigel Clough told his club's official website: "It didn't quite work out for Lyle at Bramall Lane but he heads to Scunthorpe with our best wishes."
