Dunne relishing Portsmouth chance

New Portsmouth signing James Dunne can't wait to get started at Fratton Park, after signing a two-year deal with the club.

Dunne, who was placed on the transfer list by Stevenage in January and then loaned to St Johnstone for the rest of the campaign, was impressed with the ambition and direction of Pompey. The midfielder told the club's official website: "It's very exciting to get the chance to play in front of the sort of gates they get and I think we can keep rising from here. Manager Andy Awford has spelt out his plans for where this club is going." Dunne is hungry for more success, after lifting the Scottish Cup with St Johnstone last season. He said: "I was sitting in the stand at Stevenage not playing and then the next thing I'm playing at Celtic Park in the cup final for St Johnstone. To win the trophy in front of 50,000 fans was unbelievable. "I really do believe we can turn Fratton Park into a proper fortress and that we can move up and keep moving."
