New AFC Wimbledon striker Adebayo Akinfenwa says he is passionate about making a difference to the team in League Two this season.

"Bayo" turned down the chance to continue playing in League One with Gillingham to make the move to the fourth tier. And he told the Dons' official website that he will not mind losing out in the scoring stakes to fellow new recruit Matt Tubbs if it means the pair have created a "formidable" partnership. Akinfenwa said: "My game is not just about scoring goals, it's about bringing other players into play. Matt can be a top scorer, I'm okay with that. I've played against him quite a few times and I respect him as a player. "Hopefully I can bring my game, attitude and character to help the team do big things next season." He added: "The manager was massive for me in coming here with his vision and the way he wants the team to play. We're not there just to make up the numbers next season. "It's going to be a tough league because the quality of players is getting better and better, but from day one we'll be going into it looking to do something and hopefully we can do great things."
