West Brom have ruled injured Liam Ridgewell out of this weekend's clash with West Ham - but hope the defender could yet return before the end of the season.
Ridgewell limped off in the closing stages of Monday's 3-1 defeat at Manchester City.
The club confirmed their left-back had suffered "medial ligament damage to his left knee" that would rule him out of Saturday's vist of the Hammers, as well as next week's trip to Arsenal.
But he could be back for a potentially key battle with bottom-placed Sunderland, currently four points behind the Baggies, before a final-day tussle with Stoke.
Gareth McAuley is ready to provide an earlier boost by returning against Sam Allardyce's side after a lay-off of his own.
The centre-half missed the Etihad Stadium encounter with a calf problem he sustained in training.
Albion lie three points above the relegation zone but have a game in hand on nearest survival rivals Norwich, Cardiff and Fulham.
