Danny Emerton has departed Northampton having seen his contract at the League Two club terminated.
The former Hull winger, 22, arrived at Sixfields on a one-year deal last summer and has made 20 appearances for the Cobblers this season, including 14 starts. However, the last of those outings came in mid-January prior to the appointment of current manager Chris Wilder. Emerton scored once during his brief stay with the Cobblers, netting the opener in their 2-1 FA Cup first-round victory at Bishop's Stortford in November.
