Kenyon commits to Shrimps

Morecambe have announced that midfielder Alex Kenyon has signed a new two-year deal with League Two side .

The 21-year-old has been a mainstay in Jim Bentley's starting line-up this term, making 28 appearances for the club. He will now remain at the Globe Arena until the end of the 2015-16 season. "I'm really pleased to have signed up for two years," the ex-Stockport midfielder told Morecambe's official website. "I've really enjoyed my first season in the Football League and feel that I am learning all the time. "I've played more this year than I thought I would and I've really enjoyed it. It's a great club with a great set of lads and when the manager offered me a deal there was never any doubt (I would sign it)." Bentley admitted there could be even more to come from Kenyon. He said: "This is a great signing for the club. Alex is still only young but he is getting better all the time and is a player who I think has a really good future in the game. "He works hard and is popular in the dressing room and I look forward to seeing him develop even further in the next couple of seasons." The Shrimps have made a concentrated effort to extend the stays of their current squad with Jack Redshaw, Kevin Ellison and Ryan Williams among those to pledge their futures to the club recently. "Alex is the latest of our exciting young players who has agreed to sign and we are really pleased with the squad we are putting together," said director Mark Mace. "There is a lot of potential in the squad and the future certainly looks bright."
