Gills bring in two

Gillingham have completed the double capture of defender Gary Borrowdale and striker Joe Pigott.

Versatile left-back Borrowdale, who has previously played for Crystal Palace, Coventry and QPR, has agreed a short-term deal until the end of the season having trained with the League One club of late. Boss Peter Taylor told Gillingham's official website: "When I was England Under-21 manager Gary played for me, he was also with me at Crystal Palace so that shows how high I regard him. "He's only 28 and a very, very good player and it's well worth getting him on our books. He won't be ready for two to three weeks but we'll get him fit and he can be a very good signing for us." Pigott, meanwhile, arrives on an initial month-long loan deal from Charlton, where the 20-year-old has developed a reputation for finding the net. Taylor added: "I enquired about Joe a few months ago but we couldn't do a deal at the time. "He is a scorer and he netted a hat-trick against us in a Development game earlier this season. He lives in Maidstone and is desperate to come here and we are very pleased to have him." Meanwhile, striker Antonio German has extended his loan stay at League Two club Northampton by a further month.
