Middlesbrough have turned down an offer from Brighton for winger Muzzy Carayol, Sky Sports understands.
The 25-year-old has impressed for Boro since joining from Bristol Rovers in 2012.
He has bagged 11 goals in 35 appearances, including seven goals this term and that prompted Albion to make an approach.
But as Boro did with interest from Nottingham Forest last summer, they have been quick to rebuff the Seagulls.
Indeed, Boro want to open contract talks with Carayol, whose current deal has 18 months left to run at the Riverside.
