Sheffield Wednesday fan Rory McArdle is hoping to get one over Sheffield United again when Bradford visit Bramall Lane this weekend.
Sheffield-born McArdle, 26, who progressed through Wednesday's Academy, had extra reason to celebrate when the Bantams beat the Blades 2-0 at Valley Parade earlier this season and admits the game carries extra significance for him. "Yes it does, I went to the games as a child and grew up watching Wednesday, so it is what it is," McArdle said. "A lot of my friends are both Wednesday and United fans so no doubt they'll have plenty to say before the game, but hopefully after the game I'll have the last word." Two goals from Nahki Wells sank the Blades in August when they were managed by David Weir, whose short tenure in charge at Bramall Lane ended in the sack the following October. But McArdle is a big admirer of Weir's successor, Nigel Clough, and expects another close call as the Bantams chase only their second win in 16 league games. McArdle added: "I know when David Weir went in I think he tried to change the whole club and obviously for whatever reasons it didn't quite work out, so Nigel Clough has gone in now with all the experience he's got and he's steadied the ship. "They're picking up results now and it will be a tough game. "Clough did well at Burton and the things he did at Derby were great, so I'm sure he'll be looking to push United up to where they should be."
