Wildig boost for Shrews

Image: Aaron Wildig: Injury not as bad as first feared

Shrewsbury midfielder Aaron Wildig has been ruled out for around six weeks having received the results of a scan on his knee injury.

The news will come as a relief after fears he could have been sidelined for months rather than weeks due to suspected ligament damage. Wildig was stretchered off in the first half of last month's 1-0 win over Notts County having been on the end of a nasty challenge and was waiting until the swelling around his knee had gone down so that he could undergo a scan. That scan has now highlighted bad bone bruising but, crucially, no ligament damage and Wildig is expected to return to action in January.
