Barker challenge for McFadzean

Crawley boss Richie Barker has challenged Kyle McFadzean to win back his place in the team.

Defender McFadzean, who not so long ago was a target for a host of Championship clubs, was dropped for last weekend's 2-1 FA Cup win at Hednesford after costly errors in the recent defeats by Brentford and Bristol City. Barker is expected to stick with the same back four, which included 21-year-olds James Hurst, Mark Connolly and Joe Walsh, when Town head to Carlisle on Saturday. But Barker says he got the right reaction from McFadzean and expects him to be pushing for a recall in the near future. "He was very good about it," said Barker. "He accepted he needed to come out of the firing line, regroup and go again. "It is now up to the players in possession of the shirts to keep them but when Kyle does get back into the team I'm sure he will be determined not to lose his place again which is exactly the mentality we want from the group."
