O'Driscoll pondering Jay exit

Bristol City manager Sean O'Driscoll admits he may have to sell top-scorer Jay Emmanuel-Thomas in January.

Emmanuel-Thomas scored twice in their 3-0 win over Dagenham on Saturday to take his tally for the season to 14. Although he has quickly become a fans' favourite at Ashton Gate head coach O'Driscoll says he may have no choice if bigger clubs come calling with tempting offers. O'Driscoll told the Bristol Evening Post: "To be fair, I've already said to him 'I need to sell you Jay'. "We need to evolve the team and we can no longer look to (owner) Steve Lansdown and say 'give us this and give us that'. We need to generate our own money. "From a financial point of view, we can no longer sit back and wait for Steve Lansdown to bail us out. He's put his fifty million quid in and now he wants a return. "We're starting from scratch and I keep saying that Bristol City the club is not Bristol City the team. "Jay is well known in football circles and he will need to go to a club that is going to nurture him. People will look at him now and there will be interest."
