Rotherham United midfielder Rob Milsom has signed a new 18-month contract at the New York Stadium.

The 26-year-old, who joined on a short-term deal until January in the summer, has been impressive for the Millers since coming into the team at the end of August. And that form has been rewarded with a deal until the summer of 2015. "He's a top player and a terrific lad," boss Steve Evans said. "He's kept himself injury free and been absolutely outstanding. "In the games against Peterborough, Tranmere and the second half on Saturday at Orient when he got on the ball and influenced things he's as good as anyone in the divison. "We've got to be a bit careful with him because he's not had a lot of football due to injury, and at the start of the season he was on the bench. He grabbed his opportunity against Aston Villa and looked like a Premier League player." Milsom, who joined from Aberdeen, began his career at Fulham and Evans believes he has the credentials to play at the next level. "He's a Championship player every day of the week," added Evans. "He could easily play in the Championship, and as long as he keeps himself in incredible shape he'll be fine. "It's been tough for him in the past with injuries, but with a helping hand from (physio) Denis Circuit we're looking after him to ensure he's fresh on matchdays because he's so important to us."
