Hanson talks on Bantams' agenda

Bradford chairman Mark Lawn says the club will hold contract talks with striker James Hanson in the next few months.

The Bantams targetman is out of contract at the end of the season and the League One newcomers will be eager to tie down the striker they picked up from non-league Guiseley in 2009 for just £7,500. Lawn told Sky Sports News Radio: "We'll sit down with James and his agent in the next few months to hopefully tie him down to a new deal." The imposing frontman has only scored once this season, but he has adapted well to life in the third tier and has helped Phil Parkinson's men into seventh place. The 25-year-old scored 15 goals for Bradford last season as they won promotion to League One and reached the Capital One Cup final and it was Hanson's goal that ultimately fired the club to Wembley after he scored the crucial equaliser at Aston Villa in the Bantams' 4-3 aggregate win. Lawn also revealed the League One club are still searching for outside investment to help them maintain their momentum. Despite last season's record-breaking cup run and promotion the club have still not had any serious investment offers and they are currently almost through the 60% wages-to-turnover threshold. Lawn added: "The problem we have at the moment is that we are up to 58% of our income and the fair play rules only allow us to spend 60%. "Every deal that clubs do has to be sent to the Football League to be ratified before they can get the green light. "We would have to look at moving some players out if we wanted to add to the squad, unless we increased our income whether it by another cup run or from an outside investor."
