Sky Sports sources understand that Southampton are in pole position to sign AS Roma striker Daniel Osvaldo.
Reports in Italy have suggested that Roma are hoping to convince Osvaldo to move to England, with Southampton leading the chase.
The Argentine-born Italian international has been linked with a host of clubs this summer, and it is not only Premier League clubs keen with Atletico Madrid, Wolfsburg and Benfica all said to be interested in landing him.
Fulham are also credited with an interest, whilst reports in the Gazzetta dello Sport claim Tottenham could also be about to step up their interest.
It is claimed Roma directors Mauro Baldissoni and Walter Sabatini have met with Tottenham counterpart Franco Baldini to discuss Osvaldo, Erik Lamela and Miralem Pjanic.
