QPR new boy Danny Simpson is delighted the new football season is just around the corner.
Simpson, who joined Harry Redknapp's side this summer following his release from Newcastle, believes Saturday's curtain-raiser at home to Sheffield Wednesday has come at the right time for him and his team-mates.
The 26-year-old full back told QPR's official matchday programme: "We've had a good pre-season and the lads have put in a lot of work.
"Not one person has not put the effort in. It's good to see fellow professionals working hard. Everyone has been pushing each other along. That's how it should be.
"The games have been good, as well. We've been getting fitter and stronger.
"I think the season has come at the right time now - we're ready to kick things off."
But the former Manchester United man knows Saturday's clash against the Owls will not be easy.
He added: "It'll be tricky.
"The first few games of the season are always difficult because, although you've put a lot of work in during pre-season, you are still trying to get full match sharpness.
"But it's a fresh start for everyone and from our point of view, we're all looking forward to it."
