Kevin Lynch believes 19-year-old Ryan Edwards will prove to be a real asset for Chesterfield during his loan spell at the Proact Stadium.

Blackburn defender Edwards, 19, had been training with the Spireites and on Tuesday signed a one-month loan deal with the League Two club. Following the friendly defeat to Wolves, in which Edwards played 35 minutes as a second-half substitute, first-team coach Lynch said: "Ryan's come in on loan for us and is a great addition to the team. He's a very good centre-half, which is something we may need. "I think he'll be a great addition for us. It's been well documented that we've needed someone in there and I think he'll do well for us. "He's only just come into the side with a few day's training and after a bit longer he will bed in really well and he'll learn from us because we've got great players in our team. "He's a fantastic player who knows the league well so I'm confident he'll do well here." Edwards made over 30 appearances in League Two last season during loan spells at Rochdale and Fleetwood.
