Exeter boss Paul Tisdale has spoken of his delight at seeing Liam Sercombe make his long-awaited return to action.

The City youth product looked bright throughout his 45-minute display against QPR having been sidelined since late December after suffering a broken ankle. "That was probably the highlight for me - getting Liam Sercombe back on the pitch," Tisdale said. "How we missed him last year in the second half of the season and here he was terrific. "He was sharp, quick to receive, quick to turn and just a natural - it was lovely to see him play like that." Meanwhile, the City boss confirmed that the club are close to agreeing a deal to keep midfielder Matt Oakley at St James Park. The former Leicester man, who was a regular for the Grecians last season, played for 45 minutes against Harry Redknapp's men and has spent pre-season with the club.
