Ogogo out to beat the odds

Dagenham may be among the favourites for relegation from League Two, but captain Abu Ogogo has his sights set on the play-offs.

Ogogo is convinced 2013/14 will not see a repeat of the relegation battle which saw Wayne Burnett's men secure Football League survival on goal difference on the last day of last season. "Those odds are the incentive for us to go out there and have a great season," Ogogo told London24. "Having spoken to all the guys at training, everyone is keen for there not to be a repeat of last season and we are all confident we can prove the bookies are wrong. "For parts of last season we were on the verge of the play-offs so we know we have it within us to challenge. "The whole team has benefited from last season, it was a good test for the squad and with a few new additions hopefully we can be up there in with a shout of the play-offs." The East Londoners have returned to training and take on Whitstable Town in their first pre-season friendly on Saturday.
