Hartlepool teenager Luke James hopes to steer clear of injury as the club look to return to League One at the first attempt.
James burst on to the first-team scene at Victoria Park two months after his 17th birthday during the 2011/12 season when he scored in his fifth appearance for the club against Rochdale.
But after recovering from a back injury last summer, the 18-year-old's progress was further halted when he had surgery to resolve a double hernia problem in October.
"It's been frustrating for me at times over the last couple of seasons," James told the club's official website.
"I've not had loads of injuries, I just seem to get one and it goes on for a while.
"Hopefully now I can wipe the slate clean, have no injuries and put that all behind me so I can just concentrate on my football.
"I have a few targets in mind, but I wouldn't like to say too much because I'll be disappointed if I don't make them.
"One that I am not afraid to say is that I don't want to get injured, I just so desperately don't want to get injured."
