Foley enjoying dream campaign

Play-off glory against Brentford would cap a whirlwind rise from non-league football to the second tier for Yeovil's Sam Foley.

Just 12 months ago the 26-year-old was on the losing side at Wembley as York beat his Newport side to the FA Trophy. And Gary Johnson's faith in bringing a player with no Football League experience to Huish Park was rewarded with 50 appearances and seven goals to help set up another trip to the home of English football. Ten years after ending their non-league exile, Yeovil have the chance to clinch their first ever promotion to the Championship and cap a memorable season for the Glovers with Foley admitting he has to pinch himself over the campaign they have enjoyed. "It has been incredible, really unreal," he said. "To get into the position we are in is phenomenal for such a small and young squad. "I never saw myself playing as many games as I have, let alone for the club to be doing so well with me playing every week. "The manager took a bit of a gamble on me in the summer - I was 25 and I'd never played a league game. "I could only have dreamed of that at the start of the season. Playing 50 games myself reflects on everyone else, I owe a lot to everyone."
