Veteran midfielder Stewart Drummond has agreed a contract extension at Morecambe.

The 37-year-old has showed no signs of letting up this season as he featured 50 times for the Shrimps. Drummond will once again combine his playing duties with the role of reserve-team manager. Boss Jim Bentley told the club's official website: "Stewart was one of our most consistent performers last season and he continues to defy his years as one of the fittest players at the club. "He has the experience we need in what will be a young squad and I am sure he will continue to lead from the front on and off the pitch. "He is totally committed to serving this club both on and off the field and I am delighted that he is on board." Drummond added: "I said last year that I still felt fit and had no intention of retiring at the end of the season so I'm really pleased to sign up again. "I've always wanted to play as long as I can and to do that while getting more coaching and managerial experience at the same time is perfect for me."
