Tempest lands international call

Notts County midfielder Greg Tempest has been called up to a Northern Ireland Under-21 training camp.

Nottingham-born Tempest will form part of a group next week that will then be whittled down to an 18-man squad for the principality's forthcoming UEFA Under-21 qualifier against Cyprus on May 30. Tempest qualifies to represent Northern Ireland thanks to his grandfather, who was born in Belfast and who also played for the Magpies either side of the Second World War. Tempest came through Notts County's Academy and signed his first professional contract last summer. Since then he has made one first-team start away at Swindon and also came off the bench against Scunthorpe and Bournemouth. The 19-year-old has been offered a new deal by Magpies manager Chris Kiwomya.
