Oldham have taken up options to grant one-year extensions to defensive trio Connor Brown, Cliff Byrne and Glenn Belezika.

Fellow defender James Tarkowski has also been offered a new deal along with midfield duo David Mellor and Carl Winchester and forward Kirk Millar. Discussions remain ongoing with newly crowned fans' player of the year Lee Croft, goalkeeper Alex Cisak, centre-back Jean-Yves Mvoto and Matt Smith, who starred in Latics' run to the fifth round of this season's FA Cup before netting vital goals in the club's successful battle against relegation from League One. First-team regulars Dean Bouzanis and Robbie Simpson head up the list of players released by boss Lee Johnson, with Liam Jacob, Connor Hughes and Daniel Taylor also free to seek pastures new. Johnson told Oldham's official website: "Each individual case had different circumstances and to the players leaving I will give them glowing references. "I would like to thank them for their efforts, willingness and work rate since I have been here. The football club is ever evolving and I would like to wish them all the best in their careers."
