Parkin pleased to be back

Jon Parkin is delighted to be back in training after his lengthy absence with a hamstring injury.

The Fleetwood striker, who has bagged six goals this term, first picked up the problem against Rotherham in early November and aggravated it upon his return to training, leading to another spell on the sidelines. But Parkin is now finally ready to return and, with Town's clash at Barnet last Saturday postponed, he took the chance to referee a practice match among Fleetwood's squad at Highbury before getting into the action himself over the closing stages. "It was nice to get involved," the 32-year-old told the club's official website. "I was going to step up training this week, but obviously with the game being off and there being a session here at Highbury I managed to get involved for a short period and I really enjoyed it. "It's been a bit of a grind. I managed to get back and then pulled up again in the first training session I took part in. I probably came back just a little bit too quickly. "I just need to get fit and try and get in the team, and hopefully the goals will start coming from there."
