Hartlepool have reached an agreement with Middlesbrough to extend the loan spell of Charlie Wyke until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old spent three months on loan with Pools at the end of last year and made nine appearances without scoring, but manager John Hughes was keen to keep hold of him. "I'm really pleased that we've been able to get things sorted because Charlie has done well in his time with us," Hughes told the club's official website. "The next thing we want is for him to add some goals. I think he's deserved a few goals given his performance and I'm sure they will come for him. "His attitude to training has been spot on in everything he's done in games and in training so we're delighted that he's staying with us." Wyke, who is hoping to feature in this weekend's game at Shrewsbury, added: "I'm really glad to be staying. I've started playing games now and it's great experience for me. "I've loved my time at the club so far, everything about being involved with the first team has been brilliant, so I always wanted to stay."
