Smith hopes for Shroot recovery

Stevenage boss Gary Smith hopes Robin Shroot is about to recapture the form he showed in his blistering start to the season.

Midfielder Shroot scored six goals in his first 11 appearances, despite often coming off the bench, but fell out of favour when contract negotiations stalled. However, Shroot agreed a new two-year deal last week and celebrated with a goal in Stevenage's 2-1 defeat by Crawley on Saturday. "He's creative, he's sometimes difficult to mark and he can make things happen," said Smith. "He went through a terrific spell in the first half of the season and for one reason or another didn't get his football, and he's going to have to try and find his confidence and his feet again, and Saturday will go a long way to doing that."
