Ainsworth awaits operation news

Rotherham winger Lionel Ainsworth is set to find out whether he requires an operation to repair his dislocated shoulder.

Ainsworth suffered the injury in the warm-up to last weekend's 1-0 win over Plymouth and is awaiting the results of a scan which will determine whether there is new damage in the tendons or one from a previous injury 10 years ago. "We are waiting for the result of his scan, which is imminent," boss Steve Evans said. "If it is old damage it will need an operation, if it is new damage there won't be. The timescales will be roughly the same whatever happens." Evans also confirmed that defender Dale Tonge, who faces three months on the sidelines, has gone under the knife to repair his damaged ankle. "Tonge will be out for 10-12 weeks, he has damaged medial ligaments in his knee, but the bigger one is his ankle," added Evans. "He had that manipulated back in earlier in the week. It looked a bad one when he did it. It's a shame because he was playing well."
