Danny Redmond expressed disappointment at Wigan's Capital One Cup exit after making his first start for the club.

Wigan crashed out at the hands of Bradford after losing 4-2 on penalties following a goalless draw after extra time.

And Redmond, who first featured for the Latics in January 2011, said his team-mates were gutted not to get through.

"I'm obviously really happy to have been given my first start for the club but I'm just gutted that we didn't do enough to get through to the next round," said the 21-year-old.

"We didn't take our chances and in cup games when you are up against a defensive team those chances need to be turned into goals.

"The lads sat in the dressing room after the game and were gutted that we couldn't take just one of those chances which would have seen us go through.

"Bradford did well to defend in their two banks of four and they made it really hard to break down.

"Cup games can be like that and then when it goes to penalties it is always going to be 50-50 and they've gone through which is really gutting."
