Shrewsbury have confirmed the departure of defender Reuben Hazell after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
The 33-year-old last week used social networking site Twitter to claim he had been told he could leave the League One club. And the Shrews have on Monday confirmed Hazell's exit in a short statement on their official website.
It read: "Shrewsbury Town defender Reuben Hazell has had his contract terminated by mutual agreement.
"The club would like to thank him for all his work during his time here and wish him well for the future."
Hazell suffered a cruciate ligament injury last September which ruled him out for most of last season as Town went on to win promotion from League Two.
A fully-fit Hazell made his first appearance in a year when he lined up against Stevenage last month but he has since managed just a further two starts this term.
