Stevenage defender Mark Roberts feels the secret of their success this term is down to how quickly the new-look team has gelled.

Boss Gary Smith brought in a host of new faces over the summer but they have started the season like a train, moving up to second after Saturday's win over Scunthorpe.

"I think the greatest thing is that you don't actually feel like it's a new team - I was playing alongside Darius (Charles) at centre-half and it was just me and him in the starting XI from last year's squad," Roberts told Boro's official website.

"There's been a lot of change but at the same time I think that the new lads have rallied around, we've got to know each other really quickly on and off the pitch and I think that's shown in the results that we have managed to amass so far."
