Morecambe striker Danny Carlton has been ruled out for around seven months after suffering cruciate ligament damage.

The 28-year-old came off the bench during the 3-0 win at the Memorial Stadium but had to leave the field just eight minutes later after sustaining the injury. Carlton scored nine goals in 34 league starts for the Lancashire side last season. Manager Jim Bentley told the club's official website: "It's a massive blow for Danny and for us. He was looking sharp in training and was doing well on Saturday when he came on, but pulled up with the injury which is one that most players dread. "I'm absolutely devastated for him because he probably won't be back in contention until February or April at the earliest. "That is a blow for him and for us as we have such a small squad anyway."
