Barnsley have tied midfield starlet Paul Digby down to a new three-year deal, Sky Sports understands. The 17-year-old has been tracked by a number of Premier League and Championship clubs, but has pledged his future to the Tykes. The Sheffield-born youngster has come through the youth ranks at Oakwell and made his first-team debut as a 16-year-old last term. Digby will be involved with Keith Hill's first team as they open their league campaign against Middlesbrough on Saturday. Meanwhile, Barnsley have signed Colombia international David Gonzalez on non-contract terms to cover for Ben Alnwick. Alnwick is suspended for three games having been sent off against Rochdale in midweek and former Manchester City man Gonzalez will provide cover.
