Midfielder arrives on free transfer; Sutherland suffers serious injury

Blackpool have completed the signing of Scott Robertson on a free transfer from Dundee United. Sky Sports revealed on Wednesday that the midfielder was undergoing a medical at Bloomfield Road and he has now signed a two-year contract with an option for a further year. The 27-year-old midfielder had spent the past four seasons with Dundee United but has elected to walk away from Tannadice upon the completion of his contract. Robertson, a full Scotland international, becomes the fourth player to arrive at Bloomfield Road over the summer as Ian Holloway prepares for another tilt at promotion to the Premier League. But it isn't all good news for the Blackpool boss as he will be without striker Craig Sutherland for the foreseeable future after the 23-year-old sustained a serious knee injury during training. Sutherland, who had a spell on loan at Plymouth last season, was involved in a practice match between the development squad and the youth team when the injury occurred. A statement on the club's official website added: "He is now booked in to see a specialist and is likely to have surgery within the next seven days."
