Midfielder Jimmy Ryan is staying positive after Scunthorpe were knocked out of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup 2-0 by Grimsby.

Ryan told the club's official website: "We just didn't seem to be able to put the ball in the net. "I don't know what the possession was, but I'd like to see it. "I know possession doesn't win games and goals, but it's looking promising for the start of the season." Ryan, who was blighted by injuries throughout last season, also revealed his thrill at being back on the pitch in a Scunthorpe shirt. He added: "I hope it continues to the start of the season, as I just want to get playing and do well for Scunthorpe."
