Stopper returns to native Brazil after five years in Italian capital

Brazilian defender Juan Silvera dos Santos has ended a five-year stay at Roma to join native club Internacional on a two-year deal. The 33-year-old arrived at Roma from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2007 and went on to notch up 117 appearances for the capital side. He now returns to his homeland, where he started his professional career with Flamengo 16 years ago. The defender told Gazzetta dello Sport: "Why am I leaving? Because in football there are cycles and mine at Roma has been really good. "The thing I'll always take with me is the respect I have always had from my team-mates. "I hope the supporters will remember me as I am."
