Ipswich boss Paul Jewell has confirmed he is looking at Eldin Jakupovic in his search for a new keeper after missing out on Tomasz Kuszczak.

Ipswich boss also missed out on deal for Kuszczak

Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell has confirmed he is taking a look at Eldin Jakupovic in his search for a new goalkeeper after missing out on Tomasz Kuszczak. Sky Sports revealed earlier this week that Ipswich were interested in Jakupovic after the Switzerland keeper had previously impressed on trial at Hull City. A change of manager at the KC Stadium appears to have ended Jakupovic's prospects of earning a contract with the Tigers and he is now training with Ipswich. "We've got the lad on trial, who has looked good," said Jewell in the East Anglian Daily Times. "I know Hull City were very keen on him last season and they offered him a deal, then the manager changed, and that changed. "We're having a look at him for the week, but we've also got two or three other targets which, even if that happens, we might pursue. But that doesn't mean that Arran Lee-Barrett's out of the picture." Jewell had been keen to sign Kuszczak on a free transfer, but the former Manchester United shot-stopper opted to join Championship rivals Brighton & Hove Albion. "I think Brighton offered him a fantastic deal - it is as simple as that," added Jewell. "I spoke to him in my office but you have to work within the framework. "I don't understand why he went but Brighton are a good club. He was impressed with the place but at the end of the day, we aren't a club who can get a player in here and just expect him to sign."
