Keeper set to sign two-year deal at Oakwell

Goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has joined Barnsley on a free transfer following his release from Tottenham. The 25-year-old will sign a two-year deal at Oakwell once his move has been sanctioned by the relevant football authorities. Alnwick started his career at Sunderland and after representing England at various youth levels he earned a move to White Hart Lane in 2007. However, his career stalled in North London, making just three appearances for Spurs before a string of loan moves to clubs including Leicester, Norwich and most recently Leyton Orient. Alnwick told the club's official website: "I'm happy to be here. I'm out of contract so I've been looking for a club and it's great to come here. "I'm going to try and compete with Steeley (Luke Steele) who is a top 'keeper. It'll be good for both of us - pushing each other every day."
