Club keen for Sissoko to gain more experience
Wolfsburg have agreed to send Ibrahim Sissoko to Panathinaikos on loan but insist the full-back still has a future at the club.
The 20-year-old only moved to the Volkswagen Arena from Portuguese outfit Academica de Coimbra in January but struggled for opportunities, making just two first-team appearances.
The Bundesliga club are keen for the young defender to gain some first-team experience and so have sanctioned a 12-month loan deal to the Greek outfit, with the option of a further 12 months.
However, they are keen to stress they still see Sissoko as a valuable player for the future.
"Ibrahim Sissoko should gain some match practice at a top club," said Wolfsburg boss Felix Magath.
"Jesualdo Ferreira's side finished runners-up last season and if he is able to make the breakthrough into this side, then this is the right step for him to take now.
"In the mid-term, he should strengthen our team."
