Steve McNulty is determined to be fully-fit for the new League Two campaign in a bid to secure Fleetwood another promotion.

The Fleetwood defender has started fitness training early to compete at the top of his game next season. McNulty told FleetwoodTownFC.com: "I've had a good four or five weeks off in the summer to recharge myself but then I started working with fitness coaches Andy Hodgson and Martin Cooper to give myself a bit of a head start." The 28-year-old is optimistic the former Blue Square Bet Premier club can mirror last season's achievement and win promotion again. He added: "The players that have been brought in look to be terrific signings. Fleetwood are not going into League Two to make up the numbers, we want to compete and hopefully win promotion to League One." Manager Micky Mellon, who has completed six summer signings, told the club's website: "The players coming in have a lot of experience so it can only be positive. We are a relatively young side so it will benefit the team without a doubt."
