Fenlon hoping for more signings ahead of the new season

Hibernian manager Pat Fenlon has continued to strengthen his squad for next season by signing Partick Thistle midfielder Paul Cairney. The 24-year-old has agreed a two-year contract at Easter Road and he is the third player to join Hibs recently following the arrivals of Tim Clancy and James McPake. Fenlon is happy to have added Cairney to his squad and is targeting further recruits before the start of the new SPL season. "Paul is a player who has been on our radar for a while now and we're delighted to be able to add him to the squad for the new season," Fenlon told the club's official website.

Ambition

"He will offer us something different - he is a midfielder who likes to get forward and is always looking to spark a game into life. "He can play in a number of positions both in midfield and in the forward areas and can finish well when he gets the chance. "Paul has also got a fantastic attitude and never hides in a game; he is always looking to get on the ball. Plus he has the drive and ambition to help us to move forward as a team. "We're pleased with the progress we're making on the transfer front but we're hopeful we can add some more new faces in the near future." Cairney, who began his career at Queen's Park, said: "It's absolutely amazing to sign for Hibernian - it's definitely the highlight of my career so far. "But this is just the start of it all; now I want to show the Hibs fans what I'm all about by working hard and playing my part in helping the team to achieve success. "Hibs are a massive club; everything is in place for us to kick on and have a strong season. I'm going to be doing everything I can to make sure that happens and I'm really excited about the future."
