Torquay have signed Craig Easton on a free transfer after manager Martin Ling insisted the player is a perfect addition to his squad.

The 33-year-old midfielder, released from Dunfermline in January, has completed a two-week trial at Plainmoor and teams back up with former Leyton Orient boss Martin Ling. "I know he's the ideal type of character for our squad," Ling told the club's official website. "He was a massive part of my successful time at Orient and played a big role in our good cup runs and the promotion to League One, when he was a mainstay in central midfield. "He was nigh on player of the season that year and I just know I can trust him. He's a firm and solid character, who can come into our way of playing." Easton, who started his career at Dundee United, has also had spells at Livingson, Orient, Swindon and Southend.
