Woodman deal hinges on Jones

Exeter boss Paul Tisdale admits he could sign Brentford left-back Craig Woodman - but only if Billy Jones turns down a new deal.

Jones, currently in his second spell with the Grecians, is one of five players out of contract at St James's Park this summer who remain in negotiations with the club. Tiverton-born Woodman is on Brentford's transfer list after making 22 appearances for Uwe Rosler's side last season. Tisdale told the Exeter Express and Echo: "Until Billy signs I'm keeping my options open. Craig is someone I like, he's a good left-back and he's a local boy being from Tiverton. But at this stage our intent is to re-sign Billy. "If he doesn't sign then we will look for the best left-back we can find for the money we can pay. There is a deadline (for Jones) and I think it is within reason. It would be unreasonable to offer someone something one day and then expect a decision the next. "I don't want players to sign under duress, but there has to be a point where they are fair to us as well. He knows where we are now and I would expect to put that to a conclusion reasonably soon."
