Hearts have announced the departures of strikers Stephen Elliott and Gary Glen - but insist they want manager Paulo Sergio to stay.
While Hearts celebrated their Scottish Cup triumph on Sunday, Sergio
revealed his frustration and disappointment at not being offered a new contract.
Owner Vladimir Romanov said on the eve of the final win over Hibernian that he was more concerned with selling the club than sorting Sergio's future.
But managing director David Southern now claims efforts will be made to keep the former Sporting Lisbon manager at Tynecastle for a second season.
Southern told
STV: "The club want to keep Paulo Sergio.
"We hope he chooses to stay as the Heart of Midlothian manager and we'll find out in hopefully not too long a period."
Departures
Two people definitely departing are strike duo Glen and Elliott after they were told they would not be offered new contracts when their current deals expire in the coming weeks.
Elliott started Saturday's 5-1 Hampden success over Hibernian and has been a regular since arriving from Preston in 2010, scoring 11 goals.
The Irishman told the club's
official website: "I have had a great couple of years here and to go out in that manner was just amazing.
"I'm leaving with a Scottish Cup winner's medal so I would have to say my time here has been a success."
Glen, who scored seven goals for the club, echoed those sentiments.
The 22-year-old added: "It was great to go out on such a high and I'd like to wish the lads the best of luck for next season.
"I'd like to thank the fans for their support during my time at the club and I'm now looking forward to taking the next step in my career."
