Bolton captain staying put as Trotters confirm 12 departures

Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies has pledged his future to the club by signing a new one-year deal. The 35-year-old, who was linked with Sunderland in January, has penned fresh 12-month terms at the Reebok Stadium. Defender Sam Ricketts has also signed a two-year contract, keeping him with Owen Coyle's side until 2014. Bolton also confirmed which out-of-contract players would be leaving with 11 departing, whilst talks are on-going with Jussi Jaaskelainen and Zat Knight both of whom are understood to be interesting Premier League clubs. Gretar Steinsson, Paul Robinson, Sean Davis, Robbie Blake, Ricardo Gardner, Ivan Klasnic, Mark Connolly, Tope Obadeyi, Rhys Bennett, Dino Fazlic and Tom Eckersley have all been released. Tuncay, Dedryck Boyata and Ryo Miyaichi have all returned to their respective parent clubs following the completion of their loans spells.

Reo-Coker

Nigel Reo-Coker's departure has also been confirmed after he activated a release clause in his contract, as revealed by Sky Sports earlier this week. Coyle said: "I was clear with Nigel. I asked him straight away whether he wanted to stay and be a part of what we are going to do next season. "He was honest and up front with us, because that is the type of man he is, and said that he wanted to exercise the clause in his contract, and so we wish him well. "I would also like to thank the players that are leaving the club for their work at Bolton Wanderers. We wish them all well. "One of those is Ricardo Gardner, who has been with the football club for 14 years. He has offered incredible service to Bolton Wanderers and I'd like to personally thank him for all of his efforts, particularly during the time I have worked with him."
